The following sculptures are part of my tourist series in response to the 2020 pandemic. The war against this unknown virus has humanized our shared experience regardless of race, religion, or politics. The colorless plaster strips away these identifying factors, and what remains is a person navigating this strange new world, no longer free to travel far or near. These oversized heads consist of newspaper, covering the daily news of the pandemic, bound by tape and covered in plaster like time capsules. Their size reflects the enormity of isolation and by comparison, the shrinking world around them.
